Gallery Programs

Movement Installations
Art Gallery Inspired Improvisations

Invite your patrons to see the artwork in your gallery in a new way. Build your attendance and heighten the experience of viewing works of art with the added experience of live dance performance.

Fusionworks Artistic Director Deb Meunier will introduce each movement installation and talk about the ideas and inspirations derived from the art works and the processes behind building the structures for the live performance gallery patrons will experience.

Fusionworks dancers will then conjure up movement in the moment, with your patrons as the audience. Inspired by the work around them, each dancer will individually respond not only to the images or shapes featured in the chosen work(s), but also to the feelings these works evoke. The dancers’ individual responses come together to create an “installation”, much the same way paintings from different artists can be displayed together to create a cohesive collection.

At the end of the program your patrons will have the opportunity to talk informally and ‘up-close’ with the Artistic Director and dancers about what they have just seen.

“Inspired by the paintings and sculptures in the gallery, the dancers transform space. We are witness to their direct communication with the art, and marvel at their rhythmic interpretations of the musical score. The gallery is enlivened by the dynamic with the weaving together of these various art forms, where alone they would be greatly appreciated, but together form a spectacular experience.”
